Join me on a Photo Cruise to Mexico!
Over the last 25 plus years, I have helped clients in numerous one-on-one photo sessions; in the field, on the sidelines, court and rink-side, at weddings, studio shoots, across the sales counter and in my photo classes and seminars, but I have yet to do a cruise.
Well here it is! Lots of great food, great entertainment, comfortable accommodations, transportation to incredibly picturesque venues and my camera; for me, the makings of a dream.
Imagine, you and our group of photo enthusiasts being pampered for seven days on one of (if not the), largest ships Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas to cruise the Mexican Riviera. Photo enthusiasts unite!
Our photo cruise begins with a mixer, a cocktail party the night we leave, a great time to relax and get acquainted with the members of our group. This is just a precursor to the many hours of fun and entertainment that will be provided.
I am really looking forward sharing some of my knowledge and experience regarding; shooting, equipment, Photoshop, Lightroom, and many other aspects of photography. The trip is open to anyone who takes pictures (yes, even those who still use film).
My plan is to spend our first day at sea sharing tips about taking pictures and making photography a little less complicated. Among the topics that will be discussed:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Exposure
- Composition
- Depth of Field
- White Balance
- The RAW Format
- The Histogram
- Equipment
The questions regarding equipment, for example : What is better?, What do I need?, and How do I do this?, will undoubtedly be brought up throughout the trip, so in addition to discussing it, I’m bringing it. There will numerous opportunities to see and handle different pieces of gear.
The next three days are for shooting… each day at a different port and a great opportunity to capture images of many different categories; architecture, people, action, landscapes and close-ups to name a few. Bring plenty of memory (or film); I’m sure we will use it.
OK, so now we have all these images. Now what? The next couple of days while at sea, I want to discuss my “after the shoot” process and share the group’s photos taken on the previous days excursions. Storing, labeling, key-wording, editing, rating and making adjustments to our many images are some of the topics that I will introduce on the first day.
The second day is about sharing our photos. This is one of the best ways to improve your photography and is a great way to get ideas for future shots. And for the lucky, I’ll be giving away some free gear.
Oh, and speaking of free gear: the first ten geeks to book the cruise will be put in a drawing for $100.00 gift certificate to, you guessed it, Empire Camera.
Participants will benefit from special group pricing and believe it or not the price is actually better if you sign up early. I was told that prices actually increase as the departure date draws near. The cruise lines do this to discourage people from waiting till the last minute to book their vacations.
